Happy Holidays Stage Stop Fans!

After much consideration we have decided to alter the direction of the Stage Stop & make the Stage Stop a seasonal venue. We will be closing our doors for the season after the Elephant Revival show on Thursday, December 29th & re-opening with a bang over Memorial Day weekend.  Keep your eyes posted on our website www.stagestop1868.com over the upcoming months for information on our farmers' market, event schedule, delicious menu, ice cream stand, general store, & much more!  If you are interested in booking your child's birthday party, your wedding, summer party or anything else during the spring & summer months please email us at stagestop1868@gmail.com.

We want to say a huge THANK YOU to our staff, Emily, Christy, James, Zach, Lauren, Adam, & David for their help & support over the past year & hope to see them all return with us when we re-open.  This past year would not have been possible without them.

Thank you to all our of loyal customers as well.

We haven't closed our doors yet & there will be plenty of fun to be had over the next two weeks so stop on in!

Thursday the 15th & the 22nd stop on in from 5pm-8pm for dinner & Karaoke!  Karaoke is free so grab your friends & family & come sing your heart out!  We love to see all ages in here for this event & think the kids would have a blast.

Saturday, December 17th join RealLife Actual & Bob Molly with special guest Stan Sutton from 8pm-1am in the hayloft.  Tickets are only $5!  There will be a free shuttle picking up at the attic in Boulder at 8pm & then shuttling back & forth from the Whistlers parking lot in Nederland to the Stage Stop all night.  Hop on in for a sober ride & don't forget to tip your driver.

We’re Back

It's been awhile since we have posted to the blog, but we're back & have so much to share with you.

We are excited to announce our new Chef, Matt Casarez, formerly of Crook's Palace Restaurant & Guinness World Record breaker for the highest number of ice creams on display at one time, 985 to be exact.  He & his brother, Mike, have many amazing flavors that we will be bringing to the Stage Stop ice cream window this summer. Keep your eyes on the blog because Matt is working hard to bring some into the Stage Stop sooner & we will let you know as soon as it happens.  Matt has made delicious changes to our menu & we recommend you stop in & delight your senses.

Brunch is Back!  Starting Saturday & Sunday from 7:30am-2:00pm Matt will be serving up breakfast fare paired with creative cocktails.  We would love to see you & hear your feedback as we venture into this new dining period for the winter months.

Eldora is opening in the next few weeks & the Stage Stop is your place for post skiing happy hour.  Instead of sitting in the Canyon or on I-70 head 4 miles out of Ned anytime from 2pm-6pm & sample our $5 apps & great drink specials all while listening to live music.

Join us on Thursday nights in November & December for a little Karaoke.  It's getting cold outside so head over to the Stage Stop from 5pm-8pm, eat a little dinner, have a few glasses of wine & belt your lungs out to the sounds of your favorite artists.  Bring a group of friends & make a night of it.  There are rumors we will be adding a little trivia to the mix…details to follow.

Make a wish 11-11-11.  Join the Holden Young Trio at the Stage Stop as they host a Concert for Peace.  Celebrating not only the numerical coincidence of November 11th, 2011 but also Veterans Day.  HY3 will perform 2 sets of music with special guests from other local Boulder & Nederland bands and two collective wishes happening at 11:11pm & 1:11am.

We have a lot more in the works & will keep posting upcoming events on the blog.  Make sure to join our email list for personalized invitations & discounts.

Thanks for your support this summer & we can't wait to see you here throughout the winter!  Come on in Wednesday, Thursday or Friday from 12pm-8pm & Saturday & Sunday from 7:30am-8pm.

Tolland Ghost Town near Rollinsville

Turn west off the Peak to Peak Highway in Rollinsville, and you will drive through Tolland en route to the East Portal. Now a collection of cabins, in it's hey day, Tolland was a thriving township. Here's a photo from the collection of the Denver Public Library collection, taken sometime between 1910 and 1920.  Tolland, Gilpin Co, Colorado

Magnolia Mountain Biking Loop to the Stage Stop

Mountain bikers on West Magnolia Road. There is a great loop that takes you up to the Lone Star Mine on FR 355, and down the other side on FR 105 to the Tolland Road and the Stage Stop in Rollinsville. To return, ride up the Highway or the Old Stagecoach Road about 1/2 mile. At a large turnout on the west side of the highway, ride west following trails to FR 105-2A, returning to West Magnolia Road. Or, ride the highway, or, take the (free) Gilpin County Connector!

Try Coal Creek Canyon to reach the Peak to Peak Highway from Denver – it's a scenic drive with gorgeous views of the divide from Wondervu. Take the Boulder Turnpike (Rt. 36) to the Sheridan Blvd exit, and head west on 88th St. You will pass by Standley Lake, and eventually cross the Golden–Boulder highway (Rt. 93).

Keep on heading west and enter Coal Creek Canyon. As you enter the canyon, you will cross beneath the main railway line that also takes a similar route up to the Moffat Tunnel. Follow straight up Coal Creek Canyon:

At Wondervu, a vista of the Indian Peaks comes into view, followed by a descent to South Boulder Creek and a climb to the Peak to Peak Highway. The Stage Stop is south on Rt. 119, towards Black Hawk and Central City, which makes a nice loop back to Denve, via Clear Creek Canyon and Rt. 6.  Enjoy!

Rocky Mountain Scenery Surrounds the Stage Stop

The Stage Stop is the large red building in the center of Rollinsville. The Peak to Peak Highway crosses the railway tracks and climbs through spectacular mountain scenery. The main Denver-Salt Lake line winds its way along South Boulder Creek through a rocky gorge, headed for Denver. If you live down on the plains, now is the time to come on up and enjoy the fresh mountain air. This photo was taken today – download a print here - better yet, come visit!
